EIC
Network
The who and where of the
EIC network
About 300 Euro Info Centres
(EICs) have been created by the
European Commission to support Small
and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
EICs operate in partnership with
local, regional and national organisations.
These organisations, which include
chambers of commerce or banks, are
selected according to the quality
of their contacts with businesses
in their region. They enjoy a privileged
partnership with the European Commission
who, through independent auditors,
ensures that the quality of the
service provided is consistently
high.
Network
effect:
When a business contacts one EIC,
it gains access to the entire network.
This means that with one phone call
a business has access to 42 countries.
The EIC network is part of the B2Europe
initiative, aimed at enhancing co-operation
between Community business support
networks. As part of the initiative,
EICs will refer an SME to other,
more specialised networks if needed,
ensuring that a company quickly
gets access to the expertise it
requires. This close collaboration
further improves the quality of
service provided by EICs.
The
EICs’ fourfold mission:
| - |
To
inform enterprises on Community
matters. |
| - |
To
advise SMEs on the application
of Community legislation,
regulations etc. |
| - |
To
assist SMEs in positioning
themselves in the European
market. |
| - |
To
provide feedback to the European
Commission about Community
matters affecting SMEs. |
These objectives ensure SMEs are
well prepared to take advantage
of the opportunities the European
single market offers.
